Elwood’s Blues Breaker: Tom Jones “Bring It On Home”
For over fifty years, Sir Tom Jones has been bringing us his big voice and dynamic presence. Now, aged 75, he is still bringing it, but he’s skipping the big Vegas showstoppers that made him famous. In recent years, he made a gospel record and a blues record. And his latest is in a similar groove. But there’s a story behind it. Seems he carried around a suitcase for years. In it, he put tapes and records of songs he thought he might like to record one day. But he misplaced the suitcase. Then, last year he found it. And his new release is made up of him singing those long-lost favorites. The CD is called LONG LOST SUITCASE. It’s a mixed bag of genres, united by memory, and the irresistible urge to kick out jams. No big orchestrations here. Just stripped down combos, that giant voice. And a lot of great blues. Here he is on a Willie Dixon song. Sir Tom Jones with “Bring it on Home.”
