Ellis Hooks was born in Bay Minette, Alabama . Ellis was the 13th of sixteen children. As a teenager, He hitchhiked out of there, ended up in New York and later Europe. He made music on the street to earn a living. He met record producer Jon Tiven, who produced his first album in 2002. Ellis has been playing and touring ever since. Still with Jon Tiven, his latest is called NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK, and continues the southern r &b, blues, and gospel that Ellis Hooks knows so well.
