Under the Hood: George Martin on Ringo Starr

Ringo Starr sometimes gets a bad rep, as being not as great a Beatle as the other Beatles.  Tell that to me, and to all the Ringo fan clubs that sprung up at the time.  And tell it to their producer, Sir George Martin.

“Ringo’s voice was always heard. Didn’t sort of speak up too much, but when he did you took notice. So if John was doing something and Ringo might look over and say, ‘I didn’t like that John. That was crap.’ Then John wouldn’t say, ‘mind your own business.’ He would change it. He took notice of what Ringo said.” – George Martin
