THIS WEEKEND: Rolling Stones’ Producer Don Was
HOUR 1: Don Was (Pt. 1)
The Rolling Stones’ first new studio record in more than ten years is out. BLUE AND LONESOME is a rocking collection of Chicago blues covers, bringing the band back to their roots. Don Was produced the record. He joins Elwood (in a 2-part series, this week and next) to talk about working with the Stones, and to give a listen to some of his ace production work from the past, with Bonnie Raitt, and Bob Dylan. Plus, new music from vocal powerhouse, Beth Hart.
HOUR 2: Charlie Musselwhite
Charlie Musselwhite has a new release, I AIN’T LYIN’, recorded live the way Elwood likes it. Charlie joins Elwood to talk about that, and the blessings of the blues, including playing at the White House, and living in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Charlie always plays well with others, including Ben Harper, George Thorogood, Big Head Todd, and Cyndi Lauper.
