HOUR 1: James Hunter

Elwood welcomes James Hunter, the Brit soul singer, who just signed with the great soul label, Daptone. First, a listen to some other modern soul practitioners, the late lamented Sharon Jones, Nathianel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Nick Waterhouse. Plus some music from Sharon Jones’ band, the Dap Kings, Alan Toussaint, and a brand new release from roots musician, Peter Karp.

HOUR 2: Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks join Elwood to spin some tunes from their great new release LET ME GET BY. They share the joys of being a couple fronting what is more or less a big family- a 12 piece band. Plus music from mentors and inspirations, Buddy Guy and Mahalia Jackson. And! Music from some other married folks: Ike and Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, and The White Stripes.
