THIS WEEKEND: John Nemeth

Hour 1: John Nemeth

John Nemeth talks about music in Memphis, where he has made his home, and North Mississippi, where he made his latest record, FEELIN’ FREAKY. Along the way, a listen is given to some other great soul harmonica players, Stevie Wonder, Syl Johnson, Curtis Salgado, and Sugar Blue. Nemeth recorded his release at Zebra Ranch, the great Jim Dickinson’s old studio, and it was produced by Jim’s son, Luther. We’ll hear a track from Luther Dickinson as well, plus a new cut from Memphis soul legend Don Bryant. Wrapping things up, from the soundtrack to a graphic novel, MURDER BALLADS, a new version of “In the Pines” will be played, by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, joined by old school bluesman Robert Finley.
