THIS WEEKEND: Curtis Salgado in The BluesMobile

Hour 1: Curtis Salgado

Curtis Salgado, among others things, inspired the Blues Brothers, toured and played with Robert Cray, fronted Roomful of Blues, and carved out his own career, despite being sidetracked by life threatening illness, and even a kidney transplant. He is back with Elwood to talk about his latest, THE BEAUTIFUL LOWDOWN, and share some stories, including one about Clifton Chenier, who will be played. Also featured: a duet with Wee Willie Walker. At the end, brand new jazzy rhythm and blues from old school soul man, Lee Fields, and the Expressions.

Hour 2: Homemade Instruments

C.C. Rider takes the wheel as the Bluesmobile gets into the DIY side of the blues.  Homemade music, yes, but homemade instruments, instruments made from household objects, and stuff you just find on the street.  Featuring Bo Diddley, Jack White, Markus James, Nathan James, Buddy Buy, Homemade Jamz, Lightnin Slim, Slim Harpo, Lazy Lester, Janiva Magness, and Super Chikan, who not only plays his own handmade guitars, he has had them displayed in art studios.
