Ronnie Baker Brooks: Blues Breaker

Ronnie Baker Brooks is part of Chicago blues royalty, you might say. Lonnie Brooks is his father, Wayne Brooks is his brother. He has backed up everybody in Chicago at one time or another, and forged his own solo career, one gig at a time, either on tour, or regular gigs in Chicago’s south side. Now he has come out with his first album in ten years, TIMES HAVE CHANGED. He went to Memphis to make it, and brought in a heap of who’s who Memphis musicians to help him out, including Steve Cropper, R&B singer Angie Stone, and the Hodges Brothers, the ace rhythm section for Hi Records, who backed up folks like Al Green and Ann Peebles, among others. The resulting release is a kind of Memphis Chicago blues stew. Here is a sample for you, featuring yet another guest star, Big Head Todd. Here is Ronnie Baker Brooks, and company, “Doing Too Much.”
