Lee Fields: Blues Breaker

Lee Fields is sometimes called “Little JB” for his physical and vocal resemblance to James Brown. But, as you are about to witness, he puts his own jazz-infused spin on the funk. Fields released his first music in 1968, and he’s been playing ever since. In recent years he’s been making music with the Expressions… two horns, guitar, bass, drums, and keys. Lee Fields and the Expressions forge their own funky vibrations that combine the rough edges of Stax R&B with a more sophisticated Philadelphia soul sound. This is called “Make the World.”
