Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne: Blues Breaker

Kenny Wayne has been tinkling the ivories for a long time now, starting as a smooth player in the style of Nat King Cole and Fats Domino, then growing up to incorporate Big Joe Turner, Ray Charles, and playing as a sideman to all kinds of pop and rock musicians.  He got the nickname Blues Boss indirectly from early R&B legend, Amos Milburn.  He played with the man, and could sound very much like him. RETURN OF THE BLUES BOSS was the name of Milburn’s 1962 comeback album. Kenny Wayne absorbed all that experience, and in the nineteen eighties he moved to Canada, where he has pursued a successful solo career ever since.   His latest is called JUMPIN’ AND BOPPIN’.  It continues his process of re-booting jump jive and boogie with his own brand of showmanship.  This is Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne with a taste of “Blues Stew.”
