Bettye LaVette hops in the front seat of The BluesMobile

Elwood welcomes Bettye Lavette.  She began her musical career in Detroit in the mid-century heyday of soul music but, strangely, did not achieve fame until 2005.  Her latest release is called THANKFUL AND THOUGHTFUL.  She also has released a frank autobiography, A WOMAN LIKE ME.  She joins Elwood with some GREAT stories.  Also, some other (non-Motown!) Detroit music will be played, from John Lee Hooker, Little Willie John, Hank Ballard, and Aretha Franklin.  Plus, Martha and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye and new original jump and jive out of San Francisco: Lost Dog Found.

Air dates: September 27-28, 2014
